The opening ceremony

Amazing . There is no other word for it. 109 sculptors from 5 continents have been assembled in Changchun NE China for the 12th International sculpture Symposium. For a group of artists who usually work on their own this is an opportunity to get together with other ‘touchy/feely’ people working in marble, bronze and Granite.

The opening ceremony looked like a set from a Cecil B de Mile epic.Marching soldiers and military band, flags raised,  loads of speeches, hundreds of guess and young women dressed in traditional Chinese costume. At the moment the symposium was declared OPEN, hundreds of pigeons were let loose, there were fireworks, and a ticker-tape of gold paper turned the event into one of controlled chaos.
